HyLife Foods, a division of the HyLife organization and leading primary pork processor for domestic and world markets is seeking an experienced Manager of Procurement.  To sustain our position as a premier supplier of quality food products, we strive to employ talented and motivated people capable of reaching the cutting edge of their discipline. This position is based in the vibrant community of Neepawa, Manitoba which has a reputation for its beauty and high quality of life.

This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions:

  • Manage the procurement team, ensure inventory availability and accuracy
  • Assess the effectiveness of current processes, determine improvements and coordinate changes
  • Monitor inventory level, procurement ($ per hog) inventory accuracy % and report on monthly scorecard
  • Continuously work to optimize work flow, space utilization and labor productivity in distribution centres
  • Coordinate/execute special procurement projects, RFQ’s and cost savings initiatives
  • Ensure a high level of customer service at the distribution centres
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • College diploma or degree in Business Administration. CPIM certification would be an asset
  • Project management skills, Inventory management skills, Knowledge of ERP systems,
  • Process and results oriented, Analytical: spreadsheet, database analysis, process mapping
  • Negotiating skills, People management skills (leadership)
  • Able to multi-task and work effectively in a fast pace environment
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Excel and MS Office as well as an ability to adapt to other software applications
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Strong focus on food safety and workplace safety
