As you can see by the "Food Cycle 2009 Preamble of Facts" today was not a day of cycling that the little children will be singing folk songs about any time soon. It was, however, a very good day for the local food banks in Neepawa and Brandon.
We started at the BMO in Neepawa where the branch manager, Sean, was on hand to present a cheque to the local food bank. John MacAulay, V.P., explained that the money donated by BMO had been matched by the team at the branch. Great initiative and sense of community spirit displayed by one and all.
After that I finished a short stretch of the trail leading into Neepawa before driving into Brandon for a great fund raising lunch put on by Manitoba Pork Council and Chairman Karl Kynoch. It was attended by the Mayor of Brandon, Drew Caldwell and Winnipeg Harvest Director, David Northcott. It was very well covered by all kinds of local media. Kelly from the Brandon branch of BMO was also on hand to present a cheque made out to the local food bank represented by Marla Somersall of Samaritan House. A good day for the Manitoba Association of Food Banks.
Back on the road tomorrow.
As always, thanks for your support. Ken
