Environmental Legislation

Manitoba’s pork producers are proud to call this province home. They consider themselves stewards of the land and endeavour every day to maintain the soil, air and water while producing quality pork for consumers around the world.

Pork production in Manitoba is also heavily regulated - moreso than anywhere else in North America. Pork producers in Manitoba file annual manure management plans. Producers who don't already meet or exceed standards that will be required by 2013 are working toward making improvements to their farms.

Several producers have made notable investments in the newest technologies for handling and treating manure, with mixed results. Most producers must wait to hear what technologies provincial regulators will approve before they can afford to invest in new equipment.

The following are links to some of the laws that govern our environmental practices.
