2016 Manitoba Pork Annual General Meeting
Manitoba Pork’s 2016 Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday, April 13 at The Fairmont Winnipeg. The meeting drew a large audience to hear presentations on what Manitoba Pork accomplished in 2015 and what we have planned for 2016, plus updates from the Canadian Pork Council and the Minnesota and Iowa pork associations. Calvin Penner was re-elected Director-at-Large by acclamation and James Hofer was re-elected Director for Hutter Schwein District by acclamation, both for two-year terms.
Afternoon keynote presentations were: Global and National Marketing Initiatives, with Jacques Pomerleau and Kevin Mosser of Canada Pork International; and Structural Change and Competition on the Prairies, with Kevin Grier of KG Market Analysis and Consulting.
Doug Speirs – also known as Mr. Bacon – was the master of ceremonies at the annual banquet. Pork Industry Awards were presented to Steve’s Livestock Transport and Scott Dick of Agra-Gold Consulting. The auctioning of a beautiful handmade quilt raised $11,000 for Winnipeg Harvest’s First Steps: Feeding Manitoba’s Hungry Babies program.
