Growing Assurance: Biosecurity

This initiative is aimed at enhancing on-farm biosecurity by funding projects that protect the health of Manitoba swine herds. Click here for more information.

Growing Assurance – Environment: On-Farm Fuel Storage

This beneficial management practice (BMP) initiative is aimed at reducing the risk of soil or water contamination from older on-farm fuel storage systems. Eligible farmers will receive up to 30% of the cost of installing new on-farm fuel storage systems, to a maximum of $5,000. To be eligible for this BMP, applicants must own, rent, lease, manage or otherwise control a minimum of 320 acres of agricultural land used to produce agricultural products. Applications are being accepted, and the program will run until the funding is fully allocated. For more information, click here.

Growing Assurance – Environment: Sanitation Equipment for Commercial Manure Applicators

This beneficial management practice (BMP) initiative is designed to help reduce the risk of spreading crop and livestock diseases between farms. Commercial manure applicators can apply for up to $15,000 or 50% of the cost of new sanitation equipment, including all necessary items for a mobile hot-wash unit. Applicants for this funding must have completed and passed the Commercial Manure Applicator program at Brandon’s Assiniboine Community College and possess a valid applicator’s license. Growing Assurance: Food Safety

This initiative is aimed at encouraging the uptake of needle-free injection technology to enhance food safety. Swine farms are also encouraged to register on CQA, the national on-farm food safety and animal welfare program. Click here for more information.

Growing Assurance: Workplace Health & Safety

This initiative is aimed at instilling a safe workplace culture on Manitoba swine farms by funding the development of customized workplace health and safety plans through accredited organizations. Click here for more information.
