What is a Pick Pork Barbecue?

A Pick Pork Barbecue is a popular seasonal service provided by Manitoba Pork Council on behalf of Manitoba’s 900 pork producers. It involves one of MPC’s fabulous Grill Teams, a mobile barbecue, and our signature product – pork on a bun. MPC staff cook and serve thousands of tasty pork on a bun sandwiches in and around Winnipeg from May through October. The Pick Pork Grill Team and barbecue cart will come to an event with all the pork, buns, toppings and napkins you’ll need, and then they’ll do the grilling for you.

It can even be a fundraiser. Pork on a Bun is a great addition to any fundraising event,  and it’s a lean, nutritious and delicious alternative to hot dogs and hamburgers. Many schools, charities, businesses and sports clubs have used Pick Pork Barbecues with great success.

Each scrumptious serving of pork on a bun includes a 3 oz (approx.) slice of smoked pork loin inside a fresh baked white or whole wheat bun, served with your choice of toppings.

  • Hot Pepper Rings 
  • Mustard (regular)
  • Ketchup

What is the cost of a Pick Pork Barbecue?

A Pick Pork Barbecue is just $3.00 per serving (tax included). This includes the meat, bun, condiments, napkins and our services.

Minimum Charges and Payment Options:
The minimum charge depends on where your event is located (see below). Payment can be made by cash, cheque, VISA or MasterCard.

Winnipeg Events:

  • 60 servings minimum

Events outside Winnipeg but within a 50 km radius (eg. Stonewall):

  • 80 servings minimum

Events outside the 50 km radius but no more than 100 km (eg. Carman, Gimli, Steinbach):

  • 120 servings minimum, PLUS a $20 mileage surcharge

Events outside a 100km radius but no more than 150 km (eg. Winkler, Morden):

  • 200 servings minimum, PLUS a $25 mileage surcharge

Events outside the 150km radius will be considered on an individual basis.

Booking an event is super easy. Pick a date and time. Call to confirm availability. Determine the number of servings needed. The Pick Pork Barbecue Grill Team will come rain or shine, day or evening, weekday or weekend – holidays too!

Worried about ordering too much?

No problem! MPC will help you figure it out. Not only that, but MPC can take back any meat that wasn’t put on the grill because this product pork is smoked and cured.However,  buns are subject to a 30¢ charge for each bun ordered and not used (you keep the bun).
