Manitoba Pork Cheers Local Teams, Fundraises for Children's Charities

Manitoba’s pork producer families enjoy a close-matched hockey or baseball game as much as you do.

Manitoba Moose

From 2006-2010, Manitoba Pork celebrated the year’s end with other die-hard hockey fans at the New Year’s Eve Manitoba Moose game.

Council staff rewarded fans by tossing squishy pink pigs into the crowds, distributing seasonal pork recipes, and providing chances to win a range of prizes from gift certificates for fresh pork to hockey pucks with unique logos – and more.

On several occasions, staff served lip-smacking pulled pork sliders to sky suite ticket holders and sampled Olymel brand Pork Bites through select concessions.

Over the years, pork producers have supported the Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation, the charitable arm of the Manitoba Moose Hockey Club, by participating in the team’s annual Yearling Foundation Gala Dinner.

Through this event and others, the Foundation raised money for children’s charities in Manitoba, and has distributed more than $2.3 million to children’s charities since 1996.

Winnipeg Goldeyes

The Winnipeg Goldeyes and their Field of Dreams Foundation have also benefited from the generosity of Manitoba’s pork producers. Since 2007, Manitoba Pork and the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball Club have developed a unique partnership that extends beyond the sponsorship of a late season home game.

Perhaps you were lucky enough to catch one of hundreds of pink stress pigs tossed into the stands during breaks in the action. Or maybe you were called onto the field to break the bank and play “Squeal or No Squeal” for a chance to win valuable Fish Fin vouchers. You may have even helped Manitoba Pork support the team’s Foundation by purchasing one of our signature pork on a bun sandwiches, or by dropping your spare change into the large Manitoba Pork piggy bank located on the concourse inside the ballpark.

Through a variety of initiatives, including Manitoba Pork’s support of the annual Goldeyes charity golf tournament, pork producers have helped raise $10,000 for the Field of Dreams Foundation. Since its inception in 1995, the Foundation has raised more than $1 million for children’s charities in Manitoba. And we’re going to continue to contribute.
