ABOUT FRIESEN HOG OPERATIONS:
RF, along with El Tigre and Whitetail Farms, is a 3rd generation, family owned operation in Southeast Manitoba, located near Niverville.
Our operations are farrow to wean, and we export our weanlings to our customers, who are based in the United States.
JOB BENEFITS: We offer a group benefit package and also have a loyalty and incentive program only when production targets have been met.
SALARY: Starting salary is $35,000 - 38,000 CDN. Wages negotiated depending on experience.
JOB OPPORTUNITY:
Currently, we are hiring a fulltime Swine Technician for the El Tigre, Whitetail and RF. The job requires a 2 year commitment including 3 months of training.
JOB DESCRIPTION: will include, but not limited to, are as follows:
- General animal husbandry skills including; feeding, washing, moving, detection of herd health, treatment, etc.
- Breeding – ai breeding, heat detection, boar exposure, cull selection, preg-testing,
- Farrowing - assisting in live births, fostering, split suckling, overall herd health detection
- Processing - castration of piglets, tattooing, giving iron supplements, etc.
- Biosecurity - follow and maintain biosecurity protocols
- Basic barn maintenance including; fixing heat lamp waternipples, basic sow crate fixes, basic ventilation
- Maintain data entry for production targets and records
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Preferred 1+ years experience in the hog industry Passion for Piglets and Sows
- Proficient in English
- Self-driven, goal orientated, motivated
- Ability to work well with others and to create a good team atmosphere
